The IPF Research Programme launched its second grants scheme in 2023 to provide financial assistance to promote real estate investment research. This is the second webinar in the series showcasing the diverse research findings from three of the award winners.
Forecasting commercial real estate returns and providing reliable indicators of market risk is challenging. The University of Cambridge research team of Colin Lizieri, Nick Mansley and Zilong Wang will summarise their paper which develops and tests a Valuation Stress Index that incorporates economic theory and sentiment to predict future commercial real estate capital values.
Productivity within offices should matter to property investors, given that today the office is completing with multiple other workplaces and must demonstrate value to both occupiers and employees. Darren Yates and Lorna Landells from Remit Consulting consider the issues surrounding office workers and how their productivity can be measured.
Finally, Piyush Tiwari from the University of Melbourne will highlight his research examining the motivations of institutional investors towards the affordable BtR housing in Australia. The research aims to address critical issues relating to rental housing affordability, changing preferences towards renting and the shortage of long-term rental housing options and new supply in the country. These issues will resonate keenly with all investors with an interest in the residential market.
